Lesley Stanfield has written "75 Floral Blocks to Knit". Individual blocks of squares, triangles, circles, octagons and other floral motif shapes are used to create seven different projects. A soft covered book that will encourage you to dig into your yarn stash and knit afghans, accessories and more.
A directory of the 75 different blocks are shown as a photographic montage divided under traditional, textured and pictorial designs. Useful Techniques covers size, abbreviations, knitting basics and crochet basics for joining and even starting a block or two. The photographs are detailed and the line drawings are color enhanced, clear and easy to follow.
The heavily embossed leaf triangles when combined into a square can result in a throw that would be fun to knit and decorative to show. The blocks are small enough to be portable and quick to knit. The range of skill level starts at basic and knits up.
Of the projects, the Open Bloom Hat is adorable with its open work and and bobbles at the crown and rolled edges around the rim. It looks like it is for an adult woman but no size is given. Bouquet Greeting Card uses the bobble bouquet motif and would be lovely to receive. The Leaf Birdgage Cover makes me want to own a bird. This cage cover, a patchwork of leaves could be knit with a sturdy wool to create a beautiful small rug.
