No matter what kind of subject it is, if you have ever had your own classes for teaching to students, you MAY have already recognized that you need to make preparations for classes and at the same time you must have learned something from teaching to students. This means that teachers are always required to learn to teach and also they can get something from teaching to students.
Teaching flower arrangement is not exceptional. Amongst so many kinds of floral arrangements, there MAY be some designs with which an instructor is not very familiar OR had only limited experience of designing. Especially when it comes to a high level of designs, students sometimes raise very difficult or uncommon questions. On top of that they sometimes request a lesson of custom designed arrangements which are not listed in the school’s curriculum. In order to take care of this kind of request, instructors are required to spend some time to prepare for the coming lessons.
When it comes to very popular and common floral arrangements which are listed in the curriculum of a floral school, instructors must have been repeatedly teaching the same designs to students. In this sense instructors are usually quite familiar with how to make and how to teach such designs during a lesson. Even in case of common designs, they MAY feel it necessary to think over and over about HOW TO EFFECTIVELY TEACH TO STUDENTS who are lacking the ability of digesting the curriculum and absorbing necessary techniques during lessons.
Needless to say when teaching a custom designed floral arrangements that are not included in the curriculum, instructors are required to study beforehand how to teach such designs. As far as they take their own actions for making such unusual arrangements, they MAY be able to do it quite easily. However the fact that they can do easily themselves does not mean that instructor can easily teach students how to make such designs because there is a big difference in the skill and experiences between instructors and students.
Usually, the request for a special lesson learning custom designed arrangements is made by students. While instructors prepare for lessons by gathering information about such designs and think about how to make them, students sometimes try to make them with their own ability.
And during an actual lesson, instructors explain the point for HOW TO MAKE IT. Some limited number of students introduce their own way of making the decorations which they must have thought over and studied before the lesson.
If students make a presentation about the way of making arrangement of a design in question, instructors MAY find it creative, unique or another way of designing which MAY sound quite new to the instructor. Since there are lots of people with various races and ethnical background in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, the idea and the way of approach each student has MAY sometimes sound unique to an instructor due to the difference mainly in cultural background.
