Flippin Mayor J.J. Hudson in Flippin, Arkansas accidentally shot out the city’s police chief’s office window at City Hall, according to an ABC affiliate KAIT-TV on Thursday. Fortunately, no one was injured, but Police Chief Dusty Smith is in need of a new window.
The local police report says that Smith was on the phone when the Flippin mayor walked in and picked up a gun that had been seized by police. Though Smith didn’t see the gun go off in Hudson’s hands, he heard the shot and immediately saw the hole in his office window.
Hudson explained to police – who didn’t have far to travel to investigate, obviously – that he was attempting to unload the gun and that the ammunition had jammed. The mayor refused to comment further other than to say that the situation has all been taken care of.
The Baxter Bulletin describes the remnants of the incident as a base-ball size hole surrounded by shards of glass on the second story window at Flippin’s City Hall.
Somehow, in light of this incident, the town's name of Flippin seems to fit.
