‘Flipnote Studio 3D’ announced for Nintendo 3DS

During the newest episode of Nintendo Direct, which was released on March 13, 2013, “Flipnote Studio 3D” was announced for the Nintendo 3DS. This application is a sequel to “Flipnote Studio,” which released on the Nintendo DSi in 2009.

“Flipnote Studio 3D” is an application that will allow players to draw images (both still and animated). This new version for the 3DS will offer more options when drawing, including more colors and better control over the animation. Of course, the images will also be viewable in 3D using the Nintendo 3DS’ 3D functions.

The animations that players create can also be submitted to online services for others to view. There are two different services, one for players and their friends, and another for everyone in the world. The one for players and their friends will be available free of charge, so players can share their creations with friends without any hindrances. However, the larger service that lets players submit creations to the world will require a small monthly fee (which has not been specified). This service will have a 30 day free trial for new users, and will have occasional days where the service will be free for anyone to view (which will likely be holidays like Christmas or Halloween). Also, it is possible for players to remove their subscription fee if they submit quality creations that other players consistently rate high.

“Flipnote Studio 3D” does not have a release date set yet, but Satoru Iwata says that this information will be available on Nintendo’s website in the coming months. To view some samples of what Nintendo has made using the “Flipnote Studio 3D” software, visit the link below:
