Bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea and two members of progressive rock band Mars Volta, Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López, have formed a new band, Antemasque.

Videos of the group rehearsing their first single from their upcoming album have been floating around YouTube. Entitled "4AM", the song features raspy, screaming vocals, driving power chords, a simple yet energetic drum beat, and Flea's iconic playing.

This collaboration features the reunion of two members of Mars Volta, which disbanded in September 2012. In addition to the vocalist and guitarist, Dave Elitch, who briefly toured with Mars Volta, will join Antemasque on drums.

Flea has been active in side projects, along with continuing to play for Red Hot Chili Peppers. According to The Guardian:

First there was Rocket Juice & the Moon, formed with Damon Albarn and Tony Allen to play whimsical Afrobeat, and also electronic outfit Atoms For Peace, with Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich.
