The South Florida Symphony is to showcase the artistry of violinist Chee-Yun Wednesday, Jan. 25, in a Key West concert titled “Fire and Ice.” Renowned for her flawless technique, Chee-Yun's performance is set for 8 p.m. at the Tennessee Williams Theatre, 5901 College Road on the Florida Keys Community College campus. Soloist and symphony are to perform Camille Saint-Saens’ “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso” and “Havanaise,” as well as Pablo de Sarasate’s “Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs).” The evening’s musical program also includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica.”

The South Florida Symphony, a unique gathering of professional symphonic musicians from around the United States, began as the Key West Symphony and is guided by nationally recognized conductor Sebrina Maria Alfonso. Chee-Yun has performed and toured with leading orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Haifa Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic. She also has appeared as a recitalist and released a number of critically acclaimed recordings including the platinum-selling “Serenata Notturno.”
