Flavors of the West food festival is happening this Sunday, February 17th, in Litchfield Park, from 12pm to 6pm. What is it you ask? Well, the quick answer is that it's an outdoor food festival with about 20 West Valley restaurants lining up to serve tastes of their amazing cuisine, along with live band entertainment, a giant kid’s zone, a Sub-Zero/Wolf cooking demonstration stage, a silent auction, and a VIP area. It’s $45 to get in for all the food you can eat and a few drinks. $100 gets you into the VIP area where there’s a private bar and catered food, and kids under 12 are $10 (because the kid’s zone will be awesome!).
The long answer to what Flavors of the West is, is a bit of a heartwarming story. A couple months back, my good friend from EATERAZ.com was approached by some random named Justin Clarke. Apparently, Justin recently lost his twin brother, Scott Thomas Clarke, and he and his mother wanted to build a single patient room at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in his brother's honor, but it costs $25,000. Right now, there’s a new Phoenix Children's Hospital under construction in Avondale, and if one donates that amount, you get to name that room, which is what Justin hopes to do. Justin is a big fan of all the restaurants in the West Valley and wants to put them in the spotlight. Hence, Flavors of the West was born in order to help raise enough money to be able to name a room in his brother's honor. Plus, donating money to a children's charity is always a bonus.
So if you don't typically get the West "si-eeeeed" (I know I never do), then now is your chance to come out and taste the amazing food these chefs have to offer. It's being held on Litchfield Road, just south of Wigwam Blvd.
