It is also one of the most abundant flavonoids in plants. The flavonoid has antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. It is found in red onion, buckwheat and other fruits and vegetables. Quercetin relieves symptoms and even stops histamine and other inflammation in the cells, due to allergies.

The polyphenol compound helps to reduce toxicity of the drug doxorubicin for long term treatment in breast cancer patients. It is also efficient in combination with catechin and resveratrol. The research was published in the journal of cancer chemotherapy and pharmacology in 2011.

Quercetin is also efficient for the prevention of colon and lung cancers. It accelerates tumor’s death.
