Flatbread pizza makes for an easy and healthy snack

Getting your young child to eat healthy can be a chore at times it seems, but when healthy is also delicious it makes all the difference. Children have a tendency to stick with their favorites, sometimes leaving their diet to consist of only a handful of items and chances are that not all the necessary food groups are accounted for in those few selections. If your child needs a healthy addition to their snack routine try this new take on an old favorite-pizza! Not only is it simple and quick, but it is healthy in comparison to most snack foods out there. Also, feel free to include your child in the process. They may be more apt to eat it if they helped create it.

You will need the following ingredients:

Flatbread ( The Fit & Active Multigrain with flax brand from Aldi is great)

Olive oil

Spaghetti or pizza sauce

Your choice of shredded cheese

Pepperoni or any other desired topping

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. While it is preheating, drizzle a little olive oil on the flatbread. Spread evenly, enough to cover the entire surface. Next, do the same with the spaghetti sauce. Be careful not to use too much. A thin coating is sufficient. Then, sprinkle with cheese. Keep in mind it will spread as it melts. Finally, add your desired toppings. Bake for approximately 10 minutes. When it is finished, sprinkle with oregano for an authentic taste!

Grown ups can enjoy this treat as well, and feel free to experiment with different toppings and flavors. Barbecue chicken is another tasty alternative. And if you do not have flatbread on hand, bagel pizzas are equally as delicious, but you will lose some nutrition points!
