'FlashForward' drops more in the ratings

ABC may have been hoping for a little more from "FlashForward" when it returned Thursday night -- on the other hand, maybe the show's poor ratings should be yet another sign to networks that dividing a season in half is a bad idea.

According to the newest numbers courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, the show's return brought in a less-than-stellar 6.54 million viewers over the course of two hours. To put that in perspective, it brought in less than 4 million of what "Grey's Anatomy" picks up on average -- the same goes for "Survivor" on Thursday nights.

Of course, these numbers could change for the better once you factor in that many people may have put the show on TiVo thanks to the NCAA tournament; on the other hand, an extra half-million viewers may not compensate for the fact that the show is fading fast from a season premiere that actually beat "Survivor" on one night.

Can "FlashForward" be saved? If the creative differences behind the scenes are any indication, the odds of the show's renewal are diminishing. Now, we just have to hope that "V" doesn't suffer from the same ratings plummet when it returns from hiatus.
