Flash flood watch

Expect very heavy rain to fall over much of the midstate today as tropical moisture flows in from the gulf. A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for many of our counties surrounding Nashville.

Reports of up to 6" of inch from spotters across Middle Tennessee. Flooding is being reported east of Nashville in Cookeville and in the Overton County (Livingston) area.

The expectation is for the Nashville area to have the first day NOT in the 90's, but (according to Jeff Ray, at WRKN in Nashville), we'll have to 'suffer' through some heavy rain. Clouds all day with highs in the 80's and a good chance for rain, heavy at times.

Expect rains to continue, although not as heavy, for Thursday, Friday, and into the first part of the weekend. We are also seeing the possibility of a return to very hot weather for the first of next week.
