‘Flappy Bird’ remade in an hour

iOS and Android gaming sensation “Flappy Bird” was remade in an hour by developer Joe Shanahan, a video uploaded on YouTube yesterday shows.

Created using freeware video game development tools Blender and Python, the two-minute YouTube video shows the game being created from start to finish, from original character rendering to animation.

Although Shanahan admitted he’s never played the game before, the end result was a convincing one.

“I started from scratch and had not attempted to make this before starting,” Shanahan said on his YouTube page. “My final time was around 1 hour 5 minutes.”

To his credit, Shanahan’s version of the game is actually better looking than Dong Nguyen's original and even has elements of 3D.

Have you seen the video? Would you rather play Shanahan’s version of the game or Nguyen’s? Sound off in the comments section below.
