According to the Canadian Press, the Calgary Flames have signed Steve Begin from the Nashville Predators on Friday.
The terms of the deal are one year worth $525,000.
Begin did not play all of last year, and only played in two total games with the Predators two years ago, playing most of the season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
This will be Begin's second stint in Calgary. He was the Flames' second round pick, 40th overall in the 1996 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He went on to play five seasons with the Flames from 1997-2003 before being traded to Buffalo with Chris Drury for Steven Reinprecht and Rhett Warrener. Begin never played for the Sabres because he was claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens.
Begin went on to play five seasons in Montreal and one each with the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins and Nashville Predators.
According to the same Canadian Press report, Begin, a centre, will probably see the most of his ice time with the Flames killing penalties.
