The Calgary Flames lost their fourth straight game on the road Sunday night in Chicago. There was just one problem. Unlike their two losses late last week in the state of Florida, they failed to pick up a point.
Marian Hossa recorded a goal and an assist as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Calgary Flames 4-2. It was a very special night in Chicago, as it was also Head Coach Joel Quenneville's 600th career win as a head coach.
In the first period, it was a former Flame that did damage as Steve Montador opened the scoring near the ten minute mark. Ironically, it was another former Flame in Jamal Mayers that assisted.
The Blackhawks then went up by a convincing 3-0 score in the second period, before the Flames made things tight in the third period by outscoring Chicago 2-1.
A major story of the game happened in the first period when Flame forward Rene Bourque hit Brent Seabrook from behind. Bourque was a give a five minute major and a game misconduct. According to Ed Olczyk of WGN, he believed Bourque's hit was a suspendable offense.
With the loss, the Calgary falls to 14-15-4 and are five points back of the Dallas Stars for a playoff spot. Calgary next plays Minnesota Tuesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
