The Calgary Flames may have lost twice on a three game road trip against Pacific Division teams this past week, but the bottom line is they got points in all three games.
After Calgary's 2-1 overtime loss to the Phoenix Coyotes last night, the Flames find themselves in the thick of things in the Western Conference playoff race. Currently, Calgary has a record of 25-22-8, and are only two points back of the Coyotes for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Flames are tied with the Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars for ninth place overall in the West.
The Flames should be very pleased with the recent play of Olli Jokinen, who has taken over the Flames lead in points with 46, two more than Jarome Iginla. In his last eight games, Jokinen has five goals and six assists. One area where Jokinen has been very productive as of late has been standing in front of the net where he has been a constant distraction for opposing goaltenders.
The other red hot Flame as of late is a Finn-- veteran goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff who has been spectacular with his high quality saves. He is 24-17-4 with a 2.30 goals against average and a .920 save percentage.
The Flames next host Vancouver Saturday and Toronto Tuesday.
