According to the Calgary Flames website on Monday, the Calgary Flames put one player on injury reserve and announced that two other players will be out for an extended period of time.

In the Flames' 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday, top line forward Curtis Glencross will go on injury reserve after experiencing a high ankle sprain. He will be out six to eight weeks. The Flames also announced that defenseman Kris Russell suffered a sprain to his medial collateral ligament and will be out four to six weeks. Meanwhile, checking forward Blair Jones is out indefinitely after a meniscal tear.

The Flames also do not have defenseman Dennis Wideman in the lineup at the present time. The veteran blueliner has now missed 13 games with a broken hand.

This is the second significant injury this season for Glencross, who missed 15 games earlier this season with a sprained medial collateral ligament. During his six games back in the lineup, he had one goal and two assists for three points.

The Flames will also miss Russell significantly. The defenseman from Caroline, Alberta was fifth on the team in scoring with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points at the time of his injury, and was a +1 on a Flames team near the bottom of the Western Conference.
