Flames beat Wild 3-1 Saturday

The Calgary Flames got two goals from Matt Stajan on Saturday in a big 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

With the win, the Flames move four points back of the Phoenix Coyotes for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Coyotes lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Edmonton Oilers Saturday afternoon.

According to TSN, Stajan scored his second and third goals of the season for the Flames.His first goal of the hockey game came at 7:19 of the third period from Jarome Iginla and Chris Butler, which turned out to be the game winning goal, and then his second goal of the night was an unassisted empty net insurance goal from center ice with nine seconds left.

Joey MacDonald also had a strong night for the Flames as he made 30 saves. The Flames will next play Sunday night against the Phoenix Coyotes before they go on a two game road trip to Minnesota and Colorado.
