The Calgary Flames are above the .500 mark after a 4-1 win over the San Jose Sharks at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday night.
Miikka Kiprusoff made his first start since February 5 against the Detroit Red Wings because of a sprained knee injury and dazzled in between the Flames pipes by making 32 saves. The Sharks tested Kiprusoff's knee regularly as the veteran goaltender needed to get low regularly to make saves.
Captain Jarome Iginla led the Flames in scoring with a goal and an assist. Blake Comeau meanwhile scored his first of the season early in the third period to break a 1-1 deadlock.
According to TSN, Curtis Glencross scored his eighth goal of the season with less than a minute left with Comeau in the penalty box. His shorthanded goal was the eighth of his career.
With the win, the Flames improve to 9-8-4 and are two points back of the Dallas Stars for a playoff spot.
The Flames next play the Anaheim Ducks Friday before playing the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings in back-to-back games Saturday and Monday with all games in southern California.
