According to TSN, the Calgary Flames defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday.

Matt Stajan scored the game winning goal for the Flames at 16:01 of the second period from Mark Giordano and David Jones. The goal put the Flames up at the time 3-1 and regained momentum for the Flames after Antoine Vermette of the Phoenix Coyotes scored shorthanded with Mikkel Boedker in the penalty box for tripping.

It was a strong game for Karri Ramo, who made 30 saves and registered an assist on a goal by Lance Bouma. The other Calgary Flame to score Wednesday was Sean Monahan who opened the scoring in the first period at 11:44.

For the second straight game after the penalty-filled affair Saturday in Vancouver, the Flames were very disciplined. Only Kevin Westgarth spent time in the sin bin, and it was for separate hooking and tripping infractions in the first period.

With the win, the Flames improve to 17-27-7, but are still 18 points back of the Minnesota Wild for a playoff spot.

Calgary will next play host to Nashville on Friday. The Predators were in a trade on Wednesday. The club dealt defenseman Kevin Klein to the New York Rangers for defenseman Michael Del Zotto.

Del Zotto has two goals and nine assists for 11 points, while Klein had one goal and two asssts for three points.
