According to TSN, the Calgary Flames acquired right winger Kevin Westgarth from the Carolina Hurricanes for prospect Greg Nemisz on Monday.

Westgarth has played 12 games this season for the Flames but has not yet registered a point. He was also suspended two games for boarding Ottawa Senators' defenseman Mark Borowiecki in November.

A native of Amherstburg, Ontario, Westgarth has spent three years with the Los Angeles Kings and two years with the Carolina Hurricanes. He was part of the Kings' team that won the 2012 Stanley Cup. An enforcer, Westgarth has 202 penalty minutes in 133 National Hockey League career games, and not much offense with only three goals and six assists for nine points.

Nemisz was the Flames' first round pick, 25th overall in the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft. He has played in 15 NHL career games and only registered one point-- an assist in a 6-1 win over Edmonton on April 6, 2011. In 32 games this season with the Abbotsford Heat, Nemisz has five goals and four assists for nine points.
