Flair risks health on flight from Japan

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair was to return to the ring for AJPW this past weekend but he suddenly took ill and was rushed to the hospital prior to the show according to sources in AJPW. Flair was discovered to have a blood clot in his left leg but refused treatment including being hospitalized and returned to the show but did not work as scheduled. Flair was in the corner of son Reid and his new partner The Great Muta and at the conclusion of the match gave a legendary chop to Seiya Sanada.

Flair announced on Sunday that he would be returning to the United States in time to meet personal appearance obligations in Las Vegas. The estimated flight time is almost 12 hours none of which would be helpful to someone suffering from a known blood clot in their leg according to a local ER physician.

Former Smoky Mountain, ECW, WWE and TNA star Chris Candido, who broke his leg in a match in TNA died after developing a blood clot in his leg and taking a flight shortly after surgery. Candido was the longtime companion of troubled former WWE Diva Tammy "Sunny" Sytch.

Whether Flair decided to get further treatment before leaving Japan or if he will seek treatment once he returns to the United States is unknown. What is known is that Flair continues to live life on the edge and on his own terms.
