Flagler man killed in Volusia motorcycle accident Tuesday

A Flagler Beach motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Volusia County Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes says 66-year old Thomas Procida was transported to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach after the accident, but passed away at the hospital. Troopers say Procida was southbound on U-S 1 at I-95 around 9:30 a.m., and “…turned [left] into the direct path…” of an approaching northbound pickup truck at the intersection. A passenger on his motorcycle, 63-year old Donna Procida, was treated for minor injuries in the accident. The FHP says both had been wearing helmets. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, and troopers say alcohol was not a factor for either driver in the accident. The FHP also says that witnesses reported that both vehicles had the green light, and that their investigation of the case is continuing.
