With his family issues being placed front and center once again by the Philippine media after winning his fourth World Championship belt in four divisions, Nonito Donaire, Jr. received some advice courtesy of pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.
“He should fix his problem… kasi pamilya n'ya yun eh (that's his family),” the Sarangani Congressman Pacquiao who had recently agreed to fight undefeated Timothy Bradley in June, was quoted by ABS-CBN.com.
This came after the same network aired a video on people whom they described as Donaire's grandparents wishing for the talented Filipino-American to lose.
“Sana natalo na lang s’ya, (I wish he just lost)” said Teresita Dente, Donaire’s alleged grandmother as quoted by ABS-CBN.com. “Kung natalo s’ya ako lang yata ang magtatatalon sa tuwa dito (If he lost, I might be the only one jumping in joy here).”
Donaire has denied that the people quoted in the story are his grandparents, and said that he doesn't even recognize their faces.
