Five-year-old hostage with Asperger's and ADHD released, abductor dead (Video)

A law enforcement official in Midland City, Alabama says that the 5-year-old boy with Asperger's syndrome and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) who was being held hostage by Jimmy Lee Dykes has been safely released after a weeklong standoff between police and Dykes. According to the Associated Press, the official spoke on anonymously because the person was not authorized to discuss the situation and it was not immediately clear how Dykes died.

Jimmy Lee Dykes abducted the boy from a school bus after fatally shooting the bus driver. Dykes then took the child hostage. Officials had said they had been sending food and medicine to the bunker owned by Jimmy Lee Dykes where the boy was being held hostage. .
