Contemporary, offbeat, eclectic, sometimes irreverent, street, surf/skate/snowboard, chalk art, mixed media, Rock photography and photo exhibit of graffiti art from the Berlin Wall, a knockout display of low rider cars, music, food, wine and beer, all this and support a great cause, what could better?
Transforming the Barker Hanger into a hip, edgy gallery, Artworks for the Cause will feature over 100 artists, street musicians, food trucks, and live artist performances. With a strong focus on street art, this promises to be a special weekend of art, offering patrons an opportunity to experience and discover new and exciting talents, as well as visit some known favorites.
The 3 day event will kick off on Friday, October 11, with a Meet The Artists Reception, Saturday October 12 , features the Spirit Of Excellence Awards Dinner and cocktail reception, art viewing, music Awards presentation , celebrity DJ, live and silent auctions, the exhibit continues Sunday October 13 from noon until 5 pm.
Artworks For the Cure will benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation which funds innovative cancer research at twelve top research hospitals in the U.S. In Los Angeles, the Foundation funds pediatric cancer research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Blue Whale Jazz Bar
The intimate Blue Whale Jazz Bar and Art Space will feature a spontaneous “Hub Reunion” celebrating trumpet great, Freddie Hubbard’s birthday Three generations of Hubbard’s band members will take the stage for a rousing night of bebop with Henry Franklin on bass, Carl Allen on drums, John Beasley on keyboards, Bob Sheppard and Ralph Moore on sax, and featuring the remarkable and gifted trumpet of Ambrose Akinmusure. Two nights, and four sets in the Spirit of Freddie, this promises to be a rare treat for jazz fans.
Located in the heart of Little Tokyo, the Blue Whale is a gem of a jazz club boasting top names in music, and great food, in an upscale contemporary atmosphere.

Ojai Studio Artists
Spend an art filled day in the beautiful Ojai Valley. October 12 and 13 patrons will have a unique opportunity to take a behind the scene tour of the studios of over 50 resident artists. Attendees can choose a self-guided drive yourself tour or a Concierge Tour with van transportation and talk by a trained docent. Saturday October 12th will feature a Gala Desert Reception& Art Basket Raffle at the Ojai Art Center from 7 to 8:30 pm with live music by the Steve McPeters Band. The Art Baskets include beautiful works by Ojai Studio Artists along with gift certificates and surprises.
Sunday October 13th Venice ArtBlock will host a free self-guided tour of nearly 50 art and design studios. ArtBlock is a networking coalition of Venice-based artists dedicated to support and promote each members individual work, and the artistic culture of the Venice community.
Pick up a map at Sunset and Fourth or download it from the website, and enjoy a walk, bike ride, or hop a shuttle for a trip through charming, eclectic Venice neighborhoods. Discover creative treasures and meet the working artists that make Venice a So Cal creative hot spot. Bodytraffic at the Broad Stage Santa Monica
Contemporary and vibrant, Bodytraffic dance company makes its home in Los Angeles while recruiting talent from around the globe creating a world-class contemporary dance in Los Angeles.
Friday October 11 and Saturday October 12, the troupe will feature the world premiere of Kyle Abraham’s “Kollide,”, a groundbreaking work by Barak Marshall “And at midnight, the green bride floated through the village square”, and Richard Siegal’s 02Joy.
Midnight is based in part on a true story about a family of eight sisters and one brother who were neighbors of Abraham’s mother’s family in Aden, Yemen. It’s a darkly humorous morality tale with a soundtrack comprised primarily of Jewish love songs and hymns from the Yiddish, Ladino and Yemenite traditions.
o2Jo is a light hearted contemporary piece set to American jazz standards, by music legends Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Glenn Miller, and The Oscar Peterson Trio. The ballet based work punctuated with syncopated hip-hop and as its name implies expresses sheer joy through music and movement.
