Here are five things you probably didn't know about Olympic hopeful Sabrina Vega:
1. Her dance talent runs in the family. More than any other current U.S. gymnast (except perhaps Mattie Larson), first-year senior Sabrina Vega of Dynamic Gymnastics in New York captivates the crowds with her natural dance ability every time she steps onto the floor. In a 2010 interview, Vega said she does not take ballet, but did note that her mom enjoys dance as well. "It's just in my family, I guess," she said.
2. She's a scoreboard watcher. "Yeah, I am," Vega confirmed at last weekend's CoverGirl Classic. "My coaches [1976 Romanian Olympian Teodora Ungureanu and husband Sorin Cepoi] are trying to get me out of that, but it's this thing -- I always want to know my scores and then am like, 'Argh, why'd I look?!' but I'm learning."
3. She's a Martha Karolyi fan. "She's nice, I like her," Vega said with a giggle at the 2010 Nationals. "She cares about all of us, especially when we're in competition, and she puts a lot into us."
4. Beam is her favorite event -- and the one that makes her most nervous.
5. She'll be keeping her current floor exercise through 2012. Though Vega loves getting new floor exercises, her coaches stressed the importance of polishing her current routine -- which is new for this season -- and making sure everything is just right leading up to the Olympic Games.
