We’re well into spring and only 6 weeks away from summer, which means everyone will look for an excuse to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Sun bathing is that much more fun with good music. Here are a couple of my portable speaker picks that should have all of us feeling grateful that the days of hauling around a huge radio are gone.
Mini Jambox – Jawbone’s Mini Jambox just got a price reduction and is starting at $179.99. The Jambox has always been a personal favorite because it packs decent sound quality in a speaker that fits in your pocket. It comes in a variety of nice, poppy colors and is a perfect pool-side choice.
Logitech UE Mobile Boombox – If you’re looking for an even more affordable Bluetooth speaker, the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox is a good choice too. If bass isn’t a huge concern to you, this speaker is super compact, has a built-in rechargeable battery and has speakerphone capabilities. It also comes in a variety of fun colors which is always a bonus, because let’s face it, outdoor speakers should be fun and colorful.
Beats Pill – A perfect little party speaker is the Beats Pill. It’s on the more expensive end of the small portable speaker spectrum, but has great bass in such a small, compact device. You can switch tracks and up the volume from up to 30 feet away.
Bang & Olufesen Beolit 12 – For those who want something portable but don’t want sacrifice any sound quality, this could be a good speaker to consider. Beolit offers AirPlay but you can also connect other portable players through a mini jack or USB cable.
Lepow Modre Bluetooth Speaker – I love the modern design of this speaker and it is the most affordable one of the bunch. The curve and shape of the speaker was inspired by “the elegance of elephants and the trumpeting noise that resonates from their trunks.” It’s small enough to fit in your bag, so you can travel with it to a park or pool.
