Justin Bieber may be having some hard times recently, but that doesn't mean his popularity as diminished at all. MTV revealed on Thursday, April 4, 2013, that five schools in Norway will move their midterm exams dates so that students can attend concerts on Justin Bieber's "Believe" tour later in April.
The schools are in the Alesund region (hours outside of Oslo), and the tour dates are at the Telenor Arena on April 16 and 17, 2013.
School officials have said that this was a practical move, and it was motivated by fear. That fear is that students would purposely skip out on exams and go see Bieber's concert anyway. Kristin Halvorsen, Norway's education minister released a statement to the Associated Press:
"I am concerned that students should be concentrating when they take tests and midterms. The local schools have the responsibility to schedule the local midterms, and if they think there is any reason to change the dates, they have authority to do so. We've all been 14 years old and know that interests can be intense."
Exams for 500 students in that region will now be taking the exams on April 10 and 11, 2013.
Roar Aasen, principal of the Blindheim secondary school in Alesund, said, "We considered that this was a battle that we could not win at this time."
