Dane, a talented young singer who has graced such stages as New York's Sullivan Hall and Long Island's Nassau Coliseum, is busy gearing up for the release, but she kindly took a few minutes from her schedule to answer questions about her budding music career. Here's what she had to say:
Q. If you can, please talk a little bit about your most recent album or any project in the works. What is the inspiration behind the songs? How has the response been from fans? Is it vastly different from earlier works or similar in sound?
Dane: My newest EP is just weeks away. The songs vary in inspiration from the tragic shooting of 20 innocent kids, to a song about teenage dating violence and a couple of songs about summer chillin'.
The response has been great, along with a few tears sometimes. Pretty similar to my earlier songs, but my newest unreleased track is a little more electronic, less acoustic.
Q. Do you have any shows lined up for the months ahead?
Dane: I've been working so hard between the studio and getting my new band up to speed on my originals and covers that nothing immediate is planned yet. The band has played live a couple of times and they really starting to sound great.
Q. How would you describe your sound?
Dane: Sort of a mixture between pop and soul.
Q. How has your music evolved over the years?
Dane: I started so young that initially I was only playing covers. Then I began writing my own songs and creating my own style. It's hard to put into words how it's evolved, but I know what I like more every day and try to stay true to who I am as an artist.
Q. Where can fans check you out online?
Dane: www.charliedane.net, facebook : charliedanemusic, twitter: charliedane_ , google Charlie Dane or search iTunes.
Q. Thanks so much!
Dane: Thanks everyone. Look for the release of my newest single / EP in the next few weeks!!!
