Frozen cocktails are a must to make these hot summer days a little cooler and Philadelphia has plenty of bars offering frozen margaritas, daiquiris and more. See below for some places to head for a refreshing drink.

El Vez
121 S 13th St
Philadelphia, PA 19107
(215) 928-9800

El Vez is Stephen Starr’s Mexican restaurant centrally located at 13th and Sansom. For $9 a glass or $33 a pitcher, try the Frozen Blood Orange Margarita, a drink concocted with gold tequila, triple sec and fresh blood orange puree and garnished with a lime slice. It even comes with a colorful straw that compliments the drinks pretty coral color. This frozen cocktail is blended so perfectly and smoothly, that you won’t find a single lump and the drink doesn’t skimp on the booze, either. While here, don’t forget to try El Vez’s famous guacamole or any of its delicious Mexican fare.

Distrito
3945 Chestnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19104
(215) 222-1657

Iron Chef Jose Garcia’s Distrito is known for its Mexican tapas in the University City area. Based off of the cuisine, culture and street food in Mexico City (known as “Distrito Federal”), Distrito’s vibrant and colorful atmosphere provides for the perfect place to enjoy some frozen drinks during the summer. The bar carries more than 100 different types of tequila and makes some delicious traditional margaritas and tequila-based cocktails, but for a truly refreshing treat, try either the Seasonal Frozen Margarita for $10 or the Lime Frozen Margarita for $8.

Khyber Pass Pub
56 S 2nd St
Philadelphia, PA 19106

A favorite drink during the Kentucky Derby, Khyber serves the classic mint julep in both the traditional and frozen variety. This frozen drink is blended with bourbon, mint simple syrup and lime juice to create a refreshing treat for hot days. Khyber Pass Pub has become an innovative gastro-pub in Old City, serving Southern fare and Cajun flavored food, so, if you're in the mood, you'll be able to pair your mint julep with some great barbecue.

BarLy may be a sports bar in Chinatown with more that 60 beers on tap, but don't hesitate in trying one of its frozen daiquiris. Try a daiquiri made with Don Q Cristal and flavored with your choice of strawberry, pina colada, mango, raspberry or peach. BarLy also has frozen margaritas, made with 1800, triple sec, lime juice and sour mix. As one of the best happy hours in Philadelphia, margaritas are only $4.25 everyday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.. BarLy's menu consists of intercontinental bar food, including skewers, sushi rolls and calamari.
