To celebrate the end of the workweek and the start of one of the last official summer weekends, here’s a list of five new, upbeat songs, to set the mood for a good few days off. Links to the songs are available by clicking the title of the song. Enjoy below:
The chorus of the song expertly samples Ellie Goulding’s vocals from dubstep artist’s Flinch’s "You Don’t Know". The rapper rhymes about having to break a girl’s heart in order to achieve a hight level of success and fame. The track appears on Big Sean’s sophomore album Hall of Fame.
R&B singer The Weeknd adds a new instrumental to the already fantastic track by Lorde, the mega-talented, 16-year old Australian from her EP Love Club. The Weeknd enhances the song by harmonizing in the second half.
Memphis natives Juicy J and Justin Timberlake team up on the psychedelic track, "The Woods", produced by Timbaland. The trio previously worked together to create "Chop Me Up", from Timberlake’s 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds. The song can be found on Juicy J’s upcoming album Stay Trippy.
"Goodness Gracious" is a vivacious pop hit that shows off Goulding’s incredible vocal range. Co-written by fun.’s Nate Ruess, the track appears on her new album Halcyon Days.
5. Le1f, "Damn Son"
Le1f, a NYC queer rapper, continues to impress with his unique blend of haute couture rap lyrics and club-banging beats. "Damn Son" is featured on his second mixtape of 2013, Tree House.
