With the triple-A season now in the rear view mirror for the 2013 Iowa Cubs, five players received the call to join the Chicago Cubs.

As expected, J.C. Boscan is back with the Cubs after spending a few days on the roster in August after an injury to Dioner Navarro. With the majority of the Cubs’ remaining schedule against teams in playoff contention, Boscan doesn't figure to see much playing time.

A slew of pitchers also received the call, joining Alberto Cabrera who was called up with a couple days left in the season. Justin Grimm and Brooks Raley both joined the Chicago bullpen after spending the season in the starting rotation. Raley made one appearance out of the bullpen for the Cubs earlier in the season while Grimm started 17 games for the Texas Rangers before being acquired by Chicago in the Matt Garza trade.

Joining Raley and Grimm are two pitchers that had to be added to the 40-man roster in order to be promoted. Chang-Yong Lim, 37, is new to Major League Baseball but played in Korea and Japan, including recording 128 saves for the Yakult Swallows of the Japan Central League. Lim had a sparkling 0.79 ERA in 11 appearances with Iowa.

In a bit of a surprise, Zach Rosscup also received a promotion. Rosscup, who has only nine games of triple-A experience, did not surrender an earned run in nine appearances with Iowa. Between Iowa and double-A Tennessee, Rosscup struck out 83 batters in only 51 innings with a 2.12 ERA.
