If you’ve never heard of Five Axis design, you’re not alone. Founded in 1995 by Troy Sumitomo, Five Axis is located in Huntington Beach California and is home to one of the world’s most premier design studios. After getting his B.S. in Automotive design back in 1992, Troy Sumitomo set out to make a name for himself and his design studio in the import community and the greater automotive world by building one off concepts and creating some of the most unique aero kits showcasing what California design can do.
For 2013, Five Axis recently released their latest aero kit for the 2013 Scion FR-S for an MSRP of $1400. For that price, it comes equipped with front lip and rear valances, sideskirts and an optional trunk mounted lip. For an additional $800, Five Axis will ship you the pieces in your factory color.
The Five Axis aero kit for 2013 Scion FR-S turns an otherwise suitable looking sports coupe into a refined yet slightly aggressive looking car. The front lip sharpens up the front a bit adding that extra X factor that a subtle aero kit will do. The sideskirts beef up the stance and add some definition and depth to the overall side profile. And finally the rear side spats ( in two pieces) carry along the body lines built up from the from valence all the way through the sideskirts to the rear.

`Five Axis design isn’t all up in your face, gaudy and outlandish. Rather, it’s the refined gentleman’s aerokit who wants to stand out from the crowd, but whose fit and finish look so good, that a passerby might mistake it being optional from the factory.
Sure there are aero kits for the FR-S coming out of Japan from Rocket Bunny or Varis design, but Five Axis’s design looks just is impressive if not more so than there design competitors. Keep those tax dollars on American shores and look to Five Axis if you want a quality aero kit for your Scion FR-S.
