The winter season may be dormant for animals and other living creatures, but it is a great time to introduce some seasonal style into your home. Many people often shrug off decorating their abode after the holiday seasons because they are tired, or just don’t feel like it. I can understand the hesitation as no one wants to purchase tons of home accents right after spending a small fortune. It’s understandable, but does not mean you can’t get in on the action.
What if I told you there were some budget-friendly ways to make your interiors more winter-forward? Guess what? There are. Below are five very easy ways to decorate for winter that either use what you currently have around your home or cost a little to add.
{5 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR HOME FOR WINTER}
1.) Add logs. Whether you have a working fireplace or not, fire wood reflects the fall sentiment. Stack them on top of each other for a taste of rustic and texture.
2.) Add branches. No winter home is ever complete without a few branches. Search your neighborhood for pieces you can use to put in vases or another showpiece. This is a great accessory to add height to a room.
3.) Plaid textiles. Plaid is practically synonymous with winter and should be your go-to pattern for the next few months. Use plaid on your table (table runner, placemat), or as a throw or accent pillow. You can even turn your old plaid shirts into pillows (learn how here).
4.) Slipper showcase. Chances are you are going to need a good pair of slippers to keep your feet warm during winter. Rather than keep them next to your bed (well – at least one pair), why not make a fun showcase to evoke the season? Take all your old and extra pair of slippers (make sure they still look decent) and creatively store them inside a basket for guests to see. You can place them in the living areas of your home or near the front door if you have fresh spares for guests.
5.) Winter-inspired decals. Most wall decals are affordable and more importantly – removable. Choose winter decals for children’s room and even popular living spaces to really bring out the season. Branches and seasonal animals are top picks.
