Organizers of the annual Nitefall on the River summer concert series announced four more concerts today. The first concert announcement for the 2014 series, a show by Christian rockers Needtobreathe on June 10, came on February 18. Today, shows featuring Blue October, Hairball, The Nadas, and Fitz and the Tantrums were all added to the 2014 schedule. All of the shows will be held at the Simon Estes Amphitheater in Des Moines (unless moved due to inclement weather). Tickets for the four new concerts will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketfly. Here are the details.

Texas modern rockers Blue October will play Nitefall on Saturday, May 24 at 8 p.m. The band's albums have topped the Billboard Alternative chart twice and the Rock chart once while producing four Top 20 singles. The Houston natives released a new album (Sway) and a new EP (Debris) last August. Opening for the platinum-selling band will be Midwest pop/rock group Terraplane. Tickets for the concert will be $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

80's and 90's arena rock impersonators Hairball will return to Nitefall on the River again in 2014, playing the Des Moines riverfront on Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. The Minneapolis-based group impersonates all the big rock bands of the era, including Twisted Sister, Mötley Crüe, Van Halen, Poison, Alice Cooper, Queen, Journey, Aerosmith, KISS, and more. Tickets for the all ages event will be $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

Des Moines alt-rock/country band The Nadas will return to the Simon Estes stage on Friday, June 6 at 8 p.m. The band has been a Midwest staple for almost two decades. They released their latest album Lovejoy Revival in February of last year. Tickets to catch the all ages show are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate.

Los Angeles-based indie soul/pop group Fitz and the Tantrums will play Nitefall on the River on Tuesday, July 29 at 8 p.m. The band's debut album Pickin' Up the Pieces topped the Billboard Heat chart and hit #18 on the Indie chart in 2010. Two EPs later the band released their second studio album, 2013's More Than Just a Dream. Their sophomore effort peaked at #26 on the Billboard 200 and produced the #1 Alternative single "Out of My League" (featured video). Tickets for the all ages show will be $20 in advance and $25 at the gate.

Expect many more of the 2014 Nitefall on the River shows to be announced in the next few weeks. For more information on the concert series, go to the Nitefall of the River website.
