Stores may be selling for back to school, but it’s not time to head indoors just yet. The weather’s still warm and there’s no better time to be active outside. So if you find it hard to hit a gym or use that treadmill collecting dust in your basement, put on your workout wear and head to Norman B. Leventhal Park in Post Office Square. They’re hosting a second season of their P.O. Fitness program until the end of September. Every week there are free fitness classes on the Lawn and all you need to do is show up in some comfy clothes!
Not sure what type exercise best suits your body, not a problem, there’s a range of activities to choose from. Eight classes are offered each week on Monday through Thursday and the program takes a full-body wellness approach. Classes include a Bootcamp to get your body into shape, Yoga, a Yoga Barre combo, and Pilates to strengthen and tone and Zumba to shake off those pounds. There are morning classes at 7:15am for the early risers who want to get in a workout before heading to the office or after work evening classes at either 5:30pm or 5:45pm. The complete schedule of classes and instructors are on the Park’s website.
There’s no limit to the number of participants outside, but there are some restrictions if the classes are moved to indoor rain locations so it’s a good idea to check the Park’s Facebook page for any class updates or cancellations before heading out.
So grab a water and maybe a towel too and head out to Leventhal Park for a healthier you!
