You are what you eat – especially if fitness is an important goal. Mareya Ibrahim, author of “The Clean Eating Handbook: 31 Essential Rules to Health, Wellness, and a Fabulously Fit Life,” will coach serious fitness devotees with practical information to optimize their fitness regimens with wise nutrition choices at the 2014 Southern California Fitness Expo this weekend.

Ibrahim’s nutrition research has shown than healthy eating is a natural choice. The best results are based on a balanced diet of unprocessed foods fresh from the grower – the ever popular fruits, vegetables and grains. Modest portions of meat and fish balance the recommended program. Ibrahim also recommends balancing intake volumes by eating smaller amounts more frequently throughout the day to maintain steady blood sugar levels and control the urge to splurge.

While eating the right foods supports fitness goals, maintaining food quality is also important. The smart nutrition author will demonstrate how to clean and prepare food best. “Wax and parasites wreak havoc on the body,” explains Ibrahim. The food cleaning demonstration will also show how to help keep food fresh for longer periods. The demonstration and talk will take place Saturday, January 25 at 1 p.m. with the intriguing title "Abs are Made in the Kitchen" at the Expo’s Supreme Protein Healthy Living Pavilion. The encore on Sunday at 1 p.m. has an equally intriguing theme “How to Eat Cleaner Everyday with Fit Swaps.”

Mareya Ibrahim gives talks and food preparation demonstrations at over a dozen events each year and finds the wide range of experts at the Southern California Fit Expo put this event at the top of the list for getting the best information. Just getting there to be inspired with success stories is a good first step. Ibrahim has found the best results follow when fitness regimens incorporate strong internal motivation. The total number of information sessions is sure to provide a good foundation – there are 134 scheduled for Saturday, January 25 and 122 scheduled for Sunday, January 26. The event is NOT free – tickets cost $20 for one day and $30 for the entire weekend – an important reminder that fitness is a valuable investment. Tickets are also available online at this link. The 2014 Southern California Fit Expo takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center downtown, south of Staples Center.
