The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council announced on Wednesday, Feb. 26 that it has scheduled two public meetings.

The council plans a workshop to discuss how climate change is affecting East Coast fisheries. The event takes place starting on Wednesday, March 19 at 1 pm and concludes on Friday, March 21 at 12:30 pm. For details, see http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2014-02-26/html/2014-04183.htm.

It goes on at the Westin Washington DC City Center, 1400 M St. NW, Washington, DC 20005.

All the eastern fishery management councils will attend to see how they can work together to further study and act on climate change.

And the day before the meeting, the council’s Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Advisory Panel and its Mackerel, Squid, and Butterfish Advisory Panel will meet. This meeting takes place by webinar on Tuesday, March 18 from 1 to 4 pm Eastern Standard Time.

For details, see http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2014-02-26/html/2014-04185.htm.

The public can listen in.

The panels will discuss modifying the Scup Gear Restricted Areas through Framework 8 to the Summer Flounder, Scup, and Black Sea Bass Fishery Management Plan.
