Fishermen found a body Thursday morning in the Chattahoochee River and police believe it may be that of a Sandy Springs man who went missing earlier this month.

Mr. James “Gary” Morris, 71, was last seen Dec. 3 at his home. The following day, his vehicle was found in Roswell at Overlook Park off of Morgan Falls Road, near the river, according to news report.

Police had issued a Mattie’s Call alert to help find Mr. Morris, who has a history of depression and other medical conditions, according to Sandy Springs police. Rescuers searched the river for several days, but were unsuccessful.

Around 11 a.m. Thursday, fishermen saw the body floating near the dock at Overlook Park off Morgan Falls Road, police spokesman Capt. Steve Rose said.

The body was transported to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office for identification, Capt. Rose said.

But so far, the medical examiner's office has declined to release any information on the body.
