Tuesday, Fisher-Price's Newborn Rock ‘n Play Sleeper is being recalled after the company received hundreds of reports of mold growing between the seat cushion and frame of the infant seat, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
Fisher-Price told the CPSC it has heard from more than 600 consumers about the mold problem and were told of at least 16 infants who have been treated for related medical concerns, including respiratory issues.
If you have this baby seat, look under the seat to see whether there are dark brown, gray or black spots, signs of mold. Stop using the product if you find mold and contact Fisher-Price or visit their website for instructions. Consumers can call Fisher-Price at (800) 432-5437 weekdays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
The seats are made to hold babies weighing up to 25 pounds. They have a variety of fabric covers for a soft plastic seat that is held by a metal rocking frame.
The seats were sold since September 2009 for $50-$85. Baby seats on store shelves currently are not affected by the recall.
