The influential ska band FIshbone will hit the road again in February of 2011, beginning with two shows at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC on the 16th and 17th and continuing throughout the eastern United States. According to the group's online community website, the first leg of the tour includes stops in New York City, Atlantic City, Nashville, Chalotte and St. Petersburg, Florida. Only dates through March 4, 2011 have been officially released.
Fishbone formed in 1979 when the original memebrs were teens attending school in South Central Los Angeles and have developed their live show performances to much-heralded critical acclaim. While they have experienced several lineup changes, two original members, sxophonist Angelo Moore and bass player John Norwood Fisher, remain with the band today. Fishbone's influence has since cpread through both alternative and mainstream music worlds.
Earlier this year, the ska legends celebrated the release of Everyday Sunshine, an award-winning documentary film chronicling the story of Fishbone, directed by Chris Mezler and Lev Anderson (narrated by actor Laurence Fishburne). The ensemble's most well-known tracks include "Party at Ground Zero," "Sunless Saturday" and "Jamica Ska," a duet with Annette Funicello for the movie Back to the Beach.
