Dark Horse Comics and Team Ninja announced earlier today, that it has released the first comic in a three-part digital comic series based on the upcoming PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC game from Tecmo Koei, “Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z”.

In “Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z”, players take on the role of Yaiba, a cyborg ninja out for revenge and willing to do anything to survive. Using his ninja sword and cyber arm, Yaiba will battle through the hordes of zombies in over-the-top action, like tuning his cyber arm into a razor chainsaw or even ripping off an opponent’s limbs and using them as zombie nunchucks. You can learn more about “Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z” by visiting the game’s official site.

Featuring writing from Tim Seeley and Josh Emmons, art by Rafael Ortiz, color from Carlos Badilla and a special cover by James Harren, the three-part digital comic reveals new insight into the back story of the game, with issue #1 telling the tale of how Yaiba’s sword became known as “Heartless”. The comic will be available to download free at the Dark Horse Digital Store as well as through the Dark Horse Comics app through iTunes and Google Play. A full-color print comic will also be available with the game at launch, set to hit stores for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC (via Steam) on March 18, 2014.
