I have finished my first UFO of the new year! No, I didn't see a UFO, I finished a UFO. UFO in crafting language is an unfinished object. Part of my new year goals were to finish some of my unfinished items in my stash. So my first one finished is a pink baby sweater for a dear friend of mine.
I'm not sure when I started this sweater exactly, but it was initially for someone else and then I ran out of yarn and didn't have any money to buy more and well, it sat there. Now, I do remember getting the book in January 2011 from a knitting retreat. The book is called is called HipKnits by Better Homes and Gardens. The book is really cool with lots of neat patterns. So I started this pink baby sweater. The pattern is called Cotton Candy Jacket. It's very easy and fun. If you've ever wanted to try making a sweater, this is a good pattern to start with. The sweater is made all together and then sewn up the sides and arms, so if you want to make one larger, just multiply! The size I made is for a 12 month old.
It's a very pretty pink color. I used Bulky Yarn and it took three skeins! Yes, three! That was a surprise for sure. But it's pretty and soft and I'm hoping my friend will like it!
So, I'm marking off UFO #1 finished. I'm waiting on some yarn to be delivered so I can work on my bog jacket and I'm diligently working on another crocheted blanket to get it finished by the end of the month. Whew! I'm rocking and rolling this year!
