The Iowa State Fair organizers have announced the first two Grandstand acts for the 2014 Iowa State Fair. This year's fair will run from August 7 to August 17.
On Thursday, August 7, Contemporary Christian band the Newsboys will take the Iowa State Fair Grandstand stage. The Newsboys have amassed 31 #1 Christian singles and five Dove Awards. Opening the show will be Christian singer/songwriter Matthew West. West is an American Music Award winner, a two-time Grammy nominee, and his single "Hello, My Name Is" holds the record for most consecutive weeks atop the Christian singles chart (17). Tickets will be $30 when they go on sale in the spring.
Seven-time Grammy winners Lady Antebellum will take the Grandstand stage on Saturday, August 16. The country/pop trio has won three consecutive ACM and CMA Awards for "Vocal Group of the Year" and has turned songs like "Just a Kiss" and "Need You Now" into chart dominators. Opening for Lady Antebellum will be two-time Grammy nominee Billy Currington. Currington has already produced six #1 Country singles, and he is currently touring in support of his fifth full-length studio album We Are Tonight, which came out last September. Tickets for this show will be $49 when they go on sale this spring.
