First trailer for Suda 51's 'Killer is Dead'.

Grasshopper Manufacture head Goichi Suda (AKA Suda 51) is no stranger to main characters who choose homicide as a career path, and his newest upcoming title will only bolster the ranks established by Harman Smith, Travis Touchdown, and their ilk. Killer is Dead, another third-person action title slated for Japanese release later this year on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, takes a (slightly) less bombastic look at the profession than we've seen from Suda lately, juxtaposing clean and stylized cel-shaded visuals with somber, corporate trappings.

If the new trailer provided by Famitsu is anything to go by, though, the shift in settings won't do anything to dampen the usual frantic energy that's become Suda's trademark. Though dressed more formally than many of his contemporaries, katana-wielding principal Mondo Zappa is every bit as nimble and deadly as any of them. The video presents itself as the first in a series, but whether this is sincere or simply another bit of self-aware trickery is unknown, though.
