Since the release of the Mass Effect Mash-up Pack, 4J Studios has talked about texture packs for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. The developer finally gave the first details on what's to come to the popular open-world sandbox title.
In a post on Twitter, 4J Studios revealed that the first texture pack to be released will be the "Plastic Texture Pack" followed by the "Natural Texture Pack." The post went on to say the Plastic Texture Pack will be shown off sometime during the week of Sept. 22 suggesting that its release is right around the corner.
Additionally, 4J Studios also revealed that a Medieval Texture Pack is coming as well in response to a fan question. The texture packs will cost money but will be cheaper than the $4.99 Mass Effect Mash-Up Pack.
As for the possibility of bringing over texture packs from the PC version of Minecraft, Microsoft's official PlayXBLA website reiterated some of the difficulties that are faced trying to make that happen.
"We too love the texture sets that you can get on PC, but it’s not so simple as loving-them-and-it-happens, just because they appear to be ready on PC doesn’t mean we can just bring them to Xbox," PlayXBLA wrote. There would be a good chunk of work to be done by 4J Studios to make them shine on Xbox and we’d have to make sure we get the proper permissions to be able to actually do it (which also isn’t simple).
"What we are saying to you guys is that we are going to talk to the teams behind our favourite PC texture sets and see if we can sort something out. We can’t promise that anything will come from this but we’ll keep the community informed as and when we have some news."
Meanwhile, Title Update 13 is currently in certification and should be released this week, no later than next. 4J Studios is also working on the next Mash-Up Pack and has identified the five most requested.
