Recently, homelessness has been a trending topic in the news. From the closing of our very own "tent city" to the rise of "homeless spikes" under overpasses and on park benches in large metropolitan areas to cities finding actual solutions to homeless issues proving that compassion isn't entirely dead.

First Stop, a local non-profit organization, works tirelessly to empower our homeless population by transitioning them into permanent housing, reintroducing them into the workforce and providing health and well-being.

At this critical moment in time, where we are on the precipice of either caring for our homeless population or criminalizing them, First Stop is hosting a fundraiser, featuring Alabama Football Legend, Phil Savage, which helps to fuel their critical mission.

Phil Savage is the Color Analyst of the Crimson Tide Network, Executive Director of the Senior Bowl, former NFL General Manager, College Assistant Coach as well as guest commentator on ESPN.

This fundraiser will take place at 6 p.m. on June 14, 2014 and will feature a gourmet dinner, entertaining guest speaker, Phil Savage, and a silent auction with items donated from Brooks and Collier, The Ledges, the Alabama Shakes and much more! Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at www.firststop.org and click on the "Events" tab.

First Stop encourages you to "change a life" by attending this exciting and worthwhile event.
