St. Regis Resorts has announced they are preparing to launch their first resort in China this November. The St. Regis Lhasa Resort will open November 15, 2010 and be located on the "Roof of the World," nearly 3,700 meters above sea level in Tibet.
The resort will be located on Jiangsu Road and situated in the famous ancient Barkhor area, the St. Regis Lhasa will be 75 kilometers from the Gonga Airport and only minutes from the holy Potala Palace. This will be the fist international luxury hotel in Tibet.
The St. Regis Lhasa will feature 150 large rooms and villas along with 12 suites, one of which is the Presidential Suite. In the tradition of St. Regis properties, The Lhasa Resort will feature world-class restaurants, bars, an exclusive Iridium Spa, state-of-the-art meeting space, and even a ballroom.
St. Regis is making a concerted effort to showcase the local heritage and culture. Rooms at the St. Regis Lhasa will be accented by artifacts and elements that reflect Tibetan culture. Restaurants will ofer a variety of international cuisines, including a Tibetan restaurant. The Iridium Spa will feature an expected 5-star experience and feature traditional Tibetan herbal treatments.
