The first trailer for "The Last Exorcism II", the sequel to the surprise found-footage hit from 2010, finally creeped its way onto the web Tuesday, complete with plenty of contorting and distorted demonic voices. Watch it now, if you dare.
Interestingly, the sequel seems to have abandoned the found-footage style of the original film, in favor of traditional cinematic story-telling, much as the sequel to "The Blair Witch Project" did, and we all know how that turned out. But horror maestro Eli Roth is still behind this film, as he was the first, and horror fans have every confidence that he will deliver the shocking scares he's become known for.
The plot continues where the first film left off, with Nell (Ashley Bell) found alone in the woods where previously a creepy ritual had taken place. Back in civilization, Nell struggles with remembering the last month of her life and is told she is the last surviving member of her family. All too quickly, the demon who had once possessed her returns, with plans even more terribly sinister than the first time.
The film will hit theatres in March, after receiving the spoof treatment in the form of Marlon Wayan's horror parody, "A Haunted House".
And it seems a title like "The Last Exorcism" would dictate that no sequels would be possible, especially with the same lead character, but alas, it seems rationality is to be drowned out by the "ka-ching" of the cash registers.
