This is one of those shows that you had to wonder why it's not on DVD already. But on March 29, "Dennis The Menace: Season One," a 5-DVD box set, will hit the shelves from Shout! Factory.
The set will feature all 32 original uncut episodes from the first season (1959-1960), plus bonus features. These will include new interviews with cast members, archived radio interviews with Jeannie Russell (Margaret Wade) and Gloria Henry (Alice Mitchell), original TV show promos and a bonus episode from "The Donna Reed Show" that featured Jay North as Dennis Mitchell and Joseph Kearns as Mr. Wilson.
The series, which lasted four seasons from 1959 to 1963, starred Jay North in the title role, with Gloria Henry and Herbert Anderson as his parents Alice and Henry. For the first three seasons, character actor Joseph Kearns played the ever-suffering neighbor Mr. George Wilson. In the show's last season, veteran actor Gale Gordon, also known for roles on "Our Miss Brooks" and "The Lucy Show," played Mr. Wilson's brother, John, who just happened to move in next door. Margaret Wade, played by Jeannie Russell, was a classmate of Dennis' who had a crush on him.
